Between 1760 and 1860 the world changed forever. The steam engine and the mechanization of work brought us a forced evolution of everything we knew, that’s where the first brands began to appear, the first companies and of course, the first tints of ruthless pollution. As civilization, we have taken giant steps towards futurism, passing through a second and a third Industrial Revolution, which have given us electricity, the assembly lines; information technologies and the internet respectively.
The arrival of the Millennial generation has marked a before and after in what the industry should represent, in addition, this generation is becoming the executives, leaders, politicians and agents of change of the current years, and, thanks to their diversity is why we can say that there is initiating a Fourth Industrial Revolution, characterized by its innovation, ethics, sustainability and efficiency in the new manufacturing processes. The new productive, economic and social model is an amalgam of the 4.0 industry, the Circular Economy and the community behind it.
INDUSTRY 4.0
Never in history had been existed such a technological evolution. In the last decade technology has advanced more than it has done in the last century. In the business world, information technologies have dramatically reduced processes throughout the value chain and distribution channels; the production phases have been effectively replaced with robotic machinery and 3D printers, giving entry to new entrepreneurs, called «makers», whose job is to offer new business models based on customization, flexibility, lower production volumes and an impressive saving of resources (both financial and natural).
The Internet of Things is also a pillar of industry 4.0, has meant a radical change in production, distribution and consumption, redefining the relationship we have with goods and services. This interconnection allows the entrance to an ecological panorama, where it is precisely the efficiency of resources and the intelligence of their use that make processes to be immediate, with a better business architecture converging in better decision-making at all levels . These models acting around the circular economy aim to reduce all the waste that can be generated by manufacturing companies. The result is clear, large firms across the globe join this revolutionary initiative, such as Porsche that has reduced its CO2 emissions by 75% since 2014 or Apple whose facilities use 100% renewable energy. In summary, we are living a new stage in which innovation governs. We have at our disposal technology that is updated every day and whose purpose is not only to satisfy the most superficial desires of consumers, but to present socially responsible products and services. The industry has a very important job at this moment: to be the paradigm of the intrinsically human, that is, to work at the service of people and the environment.
